CNGA Grass Identification Workshop: Beginner Grass ID in 3D

Morning Workshop 9:00 am to 12:00 pm - May 17, 2024 

Grasses are fun and challenging to identify!  This class is outdoors in the fields at Hedgerow Farms. So be prepared for sun, wind, and weather.

  • Brief introduction to grasslands
  • Introduction to grass inflorescences and the parts of a grass 
  • Explore, learn about, and compare grasses in the field

Instructors: 

Andrea Williams, Mastermind, Williams Ecological Assessments and Planning, LLC; CNGA Advisory Committee Member

Julia Michaels, Restoration Ecologist & Designer, Hedgerow Farms; CNGA Vice-President

For the class: Bring a notebook, pencil or pen, hand lens and reference book (if you have them), something to take or keep grass samples in, and a camera. 

The focus is viewing grasses in the field. There will be bathrooms and water for refilling your water bottle. No food will be provided.
